Welcome on this Website about implementing the EUTR
The EU Timber Regulation applied from 3rd March 2013. This legislation prohibits placing illegally harvested timber on the EU market and requires operators to carry out due diligence when placing timber products on the market. In practice operators must implement robust sourcing policies to keep the risk of placing illegal timber on the market negligible. This relies on having access to adequate and reliable information on legal timber trade. The wide range of sources for information with varying quality makes it cumbersome. Thus, a common and acknowledged reference is needed.
Hence, this project «legal-timber.info» has been launched for the benefit of all stakeholders involved in the implementation of the EUTR: the private sector, theEuropean Commission and Competent Authorities, Monitoring Organisations and the civil society/NGOs.
Information is gathered from a wide range of sources and contributors and then analyzed. A panel network is mobilized if need be to provide neutral and reliable data.
